New page

The Brewer Plant is a plant. Two large leaves extend above the main body of this plant, each of which contains thousands of micropores allowing free flow of air while providing a support frame for naturally occurring yeast. These yeast, when captured, form colonies which are nurtured by the Brewer Plant's secretions and in turn excrete waste products which supplement deficiencies in the host plant's diet due to poor soil quality in its native environment. The Brewer Plant is so named due to the use of its leaves in early forms of fermentation.

Trivia
* The Brewer Plant was introduced as an example during the move Plants. The Game Manager Trafalgar seemed to approve the addition of this example, but Trafalgar did not officially record it to the canon. Thus, the canonicity of the Brewer Plant is disputable.
* The Brewer Plant has analogies in the real world. According to its author RavShimon, "the root systems of most vascular plants have developed symbiotic relationships with fungi called mycorrhizae."
* RavShimon also noted, "I am aware that this presupposes the existence of alcoholic beverages in at least one society, but I figured that wasn't too much of a stretch considering we've already established there are multiple sentient species, at least one of which has some level of civilisation." No objection was raised.
