Karun'ashi is a compound Hitoku word meaning "Rock lifeform" (From ashita: rock, and karunuje: living). It uses the apostrophe «'», a character very rarely used in Hitoku romanized texts, to distinguish it from "karunashi", a verb meaning ''to nail''.

The karun'ashi is a mineral-based lifeform with basic intelligence capabilities. Most of its body is composed of rocky minerals, but they're organized in very specific ways to make the lifeform be, well, alive.
