* The idea originated when [[User:RavShimon|RavShimon]] pointed out that it is "hard to use a telephone by smell", referring to the Rikogyugin's chemical system of communication. [[User:Dominick|Dominick]] quipped, "Although, perhaps they use a written form of communication in that case. Maybe they skipped the telephone and went straight to texting, much like millennials." Then RavShimon declared, "Before the [[Smellephone|smellephone]] was invented, of course, they used to send smellegrams."
* Dominick asked whether a smellegram is just a scratch and sniff card. To which RavShimon replied, "no, the post would be scratch-and-sniff cards. Smellegraphy would entail electronic (or other near-instantaneous--somehow [[Potential]]-based, perhaps?) transmission."
