Move numbering (out-of-universe)
Move numbering for the Greater Game is confusing, given inconsistencies and mistakes in how the moves were numbered.

a The original text was edited on 5 November 2020 to say Move 7.
Moves 1-2 were never numbered in neither the original text nor on the canonical record.
Moves 3-5 were numbered as such in the original text but not recorded on the canonical text.
Move 6 was misnumbered as move 5 in the original text, which was carried over to the Canon, and thus is the first numbered move in the Canon, yet it is incorrectly numbered, unless you start counting at zero, with "The Aether" as "Move 0". As a result, Moves 7-10 were originally misnumbered Moves 6-9 as was reported in the Canon.
Then Trafalgar introduced the move "Death", accidentally skipping Dominick's turn. While "Death" is Move 12, since "The Rift Experience" was recorded as move 9, Trafalgar numbered Move 12 as Move 10. When Dominick went to introduce "Humons" (technically Move 11), it was between Moves 10 and 12, which were then referred to as Moves 9 and 10, and so Dominick humorously numbered the move 9 3/4 in reference to Platform 9 3/4 from the Harry Potter series.
As a result, Moves 13-18 were originally introduced and recorded to the Canon as Moves 11-17. Then Sabiki noticed how "The Ethereal Field" was misnumbered as "Move 5", and suggested that all moves should be bumped up one (however, this bumped "Humons", technically Move 11, from Move 9 3/4 to Move 10 3/4). Thus, Wammywoo numbered "Continents" (technically Move 20) as Move 19, making there no canonical Move 18.
Dominick decided not to give "Riftstorms" a number in the original text, simply calling it "Move: Riftstorms", as it was the 21st move, but it came 1 move after canonical Move 19 and 2 moves after canonical Move 17. Nevertheless, RavShimon recorded it as Move 19 in the Canon, creating two canonical Move 19s.
As of yet, these numbering discrepancies have not been resolved, and there is no "official" numbering system. Until the numbering discrepancy is resolved, the only way to be fully clear about what move you mean is to refer to it by its name than by its number.
