Text
Trafalgar recorded the move to the Canon with the following text:
- Move 8: the most numerous sentient and intelligent being on our main planet is the Stan. It lives in the sand, through which it moves at great speed, and resembles a massive (roughly twice human-sized) sock with a head which, when the jaw is opened, looks like a slipper. Though blind, stans have excellent hearing and have evolved speech, and the ability to speak many languages, though their tendency to swear uncontrollably and multilingually is particularly marked when there are solar events such as eclipses. It is adept at moving between dimensions in search of its prey, or to avoid predators. They grow during the fertile first half of their lives and shrink during the second half.
Trivia
- Stans was the ninth move in the Greater Game. It was misnumbered "Move 8" and recorded in the Canon with the misnumbering.
- This move was introduced by AndyGr and managed by Trafalgar during Round 2.
- Unlike most other moves, AndyGr never gave this move an official name, nor did Trafalgar give the move an official name in the Canon. "Stans" is an unofficial name, appearing only in this wiki.
- A (noncanonical) reason given for their solar induced behavior was "I guess they get disoriented by eclipses, like bats."
- As to whether they have appendages, the author says, "I imagine them like highly evolved worms, so without appendages, I think."
